what3words can be integrated into Dever’s dispatch software and Driver App. This allows customers to provide a precise 3 word address for both pickup and drop off to ensure a speedy and reliable service.

How to add what3words functionality to Dever dispatch

Step 1

To use the what3words functionality, go to Setup – Parameters and navigate to the Mapping tab. If you click on the Sign up button to the right of the what3words API key field, the what3words website will open in your default browser.

Step 2

1. Login or signup for a what3words developer account.
2. Select Create An API Key.
3. Specify the name of your business and the name of the software you use.
4. Select Generate API Key.

Step 3

Enter your API key into the field on the parameters screen and click on Save.

How to use what3words functionality in Dever

Address entry

Wherever you can enter an address, there is now the ability to add the associated what3words address.

If you click on the “ /// ” button, a pop-up dialog is displayed showing the address (if present) and enabling you to either lookup the associated what3words from the address or to enter it using the auto-suggestions.

If you click on the “ /// ” button to the right of the address then we determine the longitude and latitude for the address using our mapping provider’s API. We then use the what3words API to convert this into a what3words address.

Then open a browser window using your default browser to show the associated words location.

In the above case the address is not quite correct so you can use the map to select a better location.

You can then click to copy the words and then paste this into the what3words field in Dispatch.

You can also type into the what3words field, as you do so the auto-suggest function is used to give a list of suggestions in the table.

You can select a suggested what3words address by double-clicking on a row or by highlighting a row and clicking on the Ok button.

🗣️ Announce the Integration

Once you have enabled the what3words integration, use the imagery and copy on our Communications Hub to announce the partnership and educate your customers on the benefits of using what3words.
