HxGN OnCall Dispatch provides police, fire, EMS and communication agencies with quality incident management and call-taking capabilities to deliver better service during emergencies and major events.
The what3words capability within OnCall Dispatch enables emergency call handlers to enter a what3words address in the format word.word.word, serves intelligence suggestions and then displays the correct location on a map for onward communication.
Setting up:
- You will need to speak to your Hexagon account manager to configure what3words within your OnCall dispatch system.
- There is a small setup fee to enable.
- Once enabled, the functionality will provide call handlers with the ability to search for a 3 word address and discover a 3 word address on the map when clicking.
Search and display
- The video opposite demonstrates AutoSuggest, Convert to Coordinates to display a 3 word address on a map
- Call handlers need to type the 3 word address in the format word.word.word and suggestions will appear

- The other functionality the integration provides is the ability to select a place on the map and the 3 word address will be displayed alongside traditional street address information.

How do I get a 3 word address?
Please refer to our US Public Safety Notion Page which has all the information on how to utilize what3words in the control room.
- A caller can provide a 3 word address on a call if they have the what3words app downloaded or by visiting what3words.com in their mobile browser and pressing the locate me button.
- The call handler also has the option of sending the Find Me sms link if they are struggling to get a location.
🗣️ Announce the Integration
Once you have enabled the what3words integration, use the imagery and copy on our Communications Hub to announce the partnership and educate your customers on the benefits of using what3words.
